Dr. Lisa Maurer took over the Chair of Training and Exercise on August 1. She studied sports science with a diploma and for the secondary school teaching profession in Strasbourg and at Saarland University. Funded by a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation, she completed her doctorate at the University of Giessen on motor impairments in Parkinson's disease. She spent parts of her doctoral studies at Northeastern University in Boston and at Pennsylvania State University. In her postdoctoral phase, she led a project within a DFG Collaborative Research Center at the Universities of Giessen and Marburg on error perception in complex motor actions, from which a junior research group for neuronal processing in movement and training emerged. Most recently, she was a deputy professor at the University of Halle. In her research, she is interested in how processes of error perception and processing contribute to the learning of complex motor actions. One of her plans in Kassel is to develop training measures that have a positive effect on motor performance by improving error processing.
