Your studies in the field of culture

In Kassel, we give culture expression and new context.

Understanding cultures. Questioning perspectives. Shaping discourses.

If you are curious about aesthetic forms of expression and their meanings, you will find your way in the Culture study area. Here you will explore language, history, media, art and everyday culture - and learn how they shape our society. Discover, interpret and shape the cultural spaces in which we live.

Does the culture field of study suit you?

The field of culture could be a good fit for you if you recognize yourself in some of these points:

  • You enjoy taking a closer look at texts, images, events or discourses, deciphering and reinterpreting their meanings.
  • You ask yourself questions such as: "What role does culture play for a society?", "Why do we tell certain stories?" or "How can we make culture accessible to many people?"
  • You don't just want to consume or practically create art and culture, but also learn to reflect on and communicate them scientifically.

Focus on sustainability

In the Culture study area, sustainability is understood as a cultural task.

Here you will learn to develop creative and socially relevant solutions and to critically question texts, media and spaces. You will look at how cultural projects open up spaces for reflection, participation and sustainable lifestyles.

During my studies, I was able to scientifically substantiate my personal interest in other languages and cultures and, for example, deal with intercultural communication - I find this very valuable in today's world, both privately and professionally.
