Hesse-Wisconsin
Students from all Faculties of the University of Kassel who have completed at least the 3rd semester (BA) or the 2nd semester (MA) at the time of departure are eligible to apply.
Please discuss the application requirements and any restrictions in course selection with Ms. Schubert in advance.

A complete application includes:
- Application materials for the Hessen-Wisconsin Program, as listed on the website mentioned above
- Notes on the Statement of Purpose: The letter, which should be one to two pages long, must be submitted in English in an informal style. Clearly explain why you would like to participate in the program, how it would benefit your studies and you personally, why you chose the universities you did, and why you are qualified to serve as an ambassador for the State of Hesse.

Please send all documents (combined into a single PDF file with a maximum file size of 20 MB) via email by November 15 to auslandsstudium[at]uni-kassel[dot]de. It is recommended that you meet with Ms. Schubert during her office hours before submitting your application.
Schedule
- November 15: Application deadline
- Please note: At the time of application, a DAAD language certificate (minimum B2) is sufficient.
- End of November: Review of applications by the selection committee; selection interviews at the International Office, if necessary
- Mid-December: Statewide selection meeting in Hesse and nomination of Hesse applicants for Wisconsin

As part of the Hessen-Wisconsin State University Program, you will study tuition-free at one of the participating partner universities. Selected students are responsible for covering certain costs at the university, though the amount varies by campus. In addition, there are costs for a visa, airfare, insurance, accomodation, etc. Based on cost estimates from recent years, you should expect to spend at least $8,000–$10,000 per semester.
Possible funding options include applying for the Fulbright Study Grant, the Fulbright Travel Grant, the PROMOS Scholarship, and/or the Federal Students Assistance Act (BAföG) for study abroad. Please visit our website on funding/scholarships and follow the relevant links. Some funding options require that you have already successfully applied for an exchange program spot, while for others, it is sufficient that you have submitted or will submit an application. Please check the applicable application requirements and deadlines yourself and contact the scholarship provider with any questions.
