Families in Higher Education

The University of Kassel signed the Charter for Families in Higher Education in 2016. By signing this charter, the university has committed itself to promoting the compatibility of family responsibilities with studying, teaching, research, and science-supporting activities, and to complying with the standards set out in the charter.
 

Goals of the University of Kassel

The University of Kassel pursues the following goals in accordance with the “Family in Higher Education” charter:

  • Establishment of a family-friendly management culture, appreciation of employees through recognition and support of family responsibilities
  • Further developing a family-friendly, gender- and diversity-sensitive organizational and academic culture
  • Expanding family-friendly study, academic, and working conditions
  • Participatory shaping of the topic through the implementation of a “Family Round Table” with the participation of all organizational areas and status groups at the university
  • Expanding needs-based childcare services

Family round table

In line with the goals the university set for itself when it signed the Family Charter in Higher Education, the Family Round Table was implemented in 2016. With the participation of all organizational areas and status groups at the university, it takes place once every semester. The goal is the participatory development of the topic of “family friendliness” at the University of Kassel.
