Guest artist at the Neue Galerie: Mathias Weis

Powerful paintings with figurative references and sometimes enigmatic elements characterize the paintings of the artist Mathias Weis, as well as the group of paintings "Untitled" (1989), which has been on display since May in the special exhibition "The Art of Collecting. The Municipal Art Collection in Kassel". Mathias Weis will be a guest at the Neue Galerie on August 30, 2018. In conversation, he will provide insights into his studies at the Kunsthochschule Kassel under Manfred Bluth, his life as a painter "between canvas and starvation cloth" and the development of his artistic work into "conceptual representational painting".
