WHEN, IF NOT NOW? - Political education at school

The educational mandate laid down in the 16 state school laws enables schools to impart civic education to all children and young people. The legally formulated mandate appears to be clear. However, the ever more differentiated subject structures, the time available to schools and the high proportion of lessons taught by teachers who are not trained for this purpose call into question the effectiveness of civic education in schools. The keynote conference will consider how and under what changed conditions schools can contribute to the formation and education of democrats.
