Concert: "Music for silent films"

In 2019, short films from universities in the hFMA network will once again be set to music - by students from the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK) and the University of Kassel.

The films will be performed with the newly composed and improvised music in two concerts on November 7 at 7:30 pm in the concert hall of the HfMDK Frankfurt and on November 9 at 7:30 pm in the hall of the University of Kassel. The Kammerphilharmonie Frankfurt will be playing.

Students at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences will make sound recordings and then make them available to the filmmakers, composers and improvisers.

• Franz Schreiber sets SÄEN by Maryna Miliushchanka (Kunsthochschule Kassel) to music.
• Richard Steinert sets MANIPULATION/TROSTFRAUEN by Seungkyu Jung (Kunsthochschule Kassel) to music.

The Kunsthochschule Kassel and the Institute for Music at the University of Kassel - under the direction of Roman Beilharz - will contribute their own concert section. Productions by three 'tandems' who have developed film and music in close cooperation will be shown here:

• Alix Kokula (film) & Wilhelm Uebach (music) show: MOVING
• Zora Jöst (film) & Rebecca Göb (music) show: SIMULTAN
• Hannah Schrem (film) & Sophia Kulla (music) show: DOG
