Statement by the University of Kassel on the current situation in Iran

Together, we view the situation in Iran with great concern and despair. Despite the regime's internet blackout, images of the brutal suppression of the demonstrations are reaching us. Here, a regime is shooting on its own people and its youth.

Over 200 students and 30 employees at the University of Kassel come from Iran or have family there. They are currently cut off from communication, far from their homeland, in a dramatic and exceptional situation. Together with them, we are concerned for the safety of their families and friends. As the University of Kassel, we declare our solidarity with all those in Iran who stand up for civil freedom and non-violence.
