North Hesse celebrates 25 years of "Studium im Praxisverbund" at the University of Kassel

On 13.05.2026, current and former participants, students and industry partners of the Study in Practice Network (StiP) met to celebrate the cooperation model that has been in place for more than 25 years. The StiP program combines a university degree with a high proportion of practical phases in companies. Many students also combine the program with professional training in close cooperation with the Oscar-von-Miller School and receive an IHK degree at the same time. The model has established itself as a great success for the region: More than 900 students with a focus on engineering and industrial engineering have already completed the program in North Hesse.

Current and former participants, students and industry partners at the 25th anniversary event of "Studium im Praxisverbund" in the Gießhaus at the University of Kassel.

The program of the ceremony included greetings from the Presidential Board of the university as well as the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the employers' association HESSENMETALL and reports from the long-standing industrial partners Volkswagen and B. Braun, including two alumni.

The industry representatives emphasized the great importance of the long-standing alliance and highlighted current activities to further develop the program.

Kai Georg Bachmann from Regional Management Nordhessen underlined the importance of the programme for the entire region and led into the outlook, which included a brief presentation of the comprehensively modernized Mechanical Engineering degree programme and the new Business Informatics and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science degree programmes.

The University of Kassel would like to thank all partners for their many years of collaboration and is delighted with the close cooperation with the companies involved, the interest shown by other partners and, in particular, the current and future students on the program.
