New article about Dr. Ina Sieber in Freiraum Gestalten magazine

A new profile of Dr. Ina M. Sieber has been published in ‘Freiraum Gestalten—Magazine for Planning, Construction, and Design’. She is a research associate in our Human-Environment Interactions department and was accepted last year as one of 25 outstanding early-career female researchers into the “Zia – Visible Women in Science” fellowship program organized by ZEIT-Verlag. The one-year program aims to bring greater attention to women’s scientific achievements, promote interdisciplinary exchange, and advance young female researchers in their personal and professional development.

The conversation covers her current research, her experiences in the fellowship program, and the importance of science communication—particularly in the political sphere. She emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary research in solving the major questions of our time. Equally important to her, however, is the participation and involvement of citizens, especially to rebuild trust in science. She also discusses the greater challenges that female scientists still face compared to their male colleagues and how enriching the fellowship program is in this regard. Sieber emphasizes the value of good collaboration—and thus mutual support—that she experiences in the fellowship program: “When we foster a positive, supportive atmosphere and are there for one another, we all benefit.”
