The energy-efficient multifunctional building of the Institute of Sport and Sports Science at the University of Kassel (boathouse) was designed in the summer semester of 2016 under the motto "Students plan for students" with the participation of the Department of Architecture, Urban Planning and Landscape Planning and the Department of Solar and Systems Engineering.

It contains a solar thermal system, a PV system with battery storage and a modern ventilation system (RLT system) with heat recovery. This technology enables the building to be supplied with heat and electricity in a resource-saving manner.
