The tense center - right-wing extremist and anti-democratic attitudes in Germany 2024/25

Many attributions are made about the "center of society": it is used to win elections, it is seen as the backbone of society, as value-oriented and stable. At the same time, the center is increasingly open to right-wing extremist and anti-democratic attitudes.
The Friedrich Ebert Foundation's "Mitte Study" is published every two years and provides key findings on the spread, development and background of right-wing extremist, misanthropic and anti-democratic attitudes in Germany. On May 4, this year's Mitte Study "The Tense Middle - Right-wing Extremist and Democratic Attitudes in Germany 2024/25" will be presented in the Gießhaus at the University of Kassel by Prof. Dr. Claudia Neu, Chair of Sociology of Rural Areas at the Universities of Göttingen and Kassel.
Following the presentation, the discussion will be deepened in a panel discussion on the question of how we can remain capable of acting and how trust in democracy can be strengthened. Representatives from the field of public services and civil society will contribute their perspectives.
Participants in the panel discussion:
Prof. Claudia Neu, University of Kassel
