Cool places - more greenery to combat the heat on campus

The focus of the action days is on climate adaptation measures on the Holländischer Platz campus. A scaffold in the Campus Center shines bright green and you wonder what it is all about. For three days in October, the planned optimization measures for the campus areas will be on display there. The aim is to give university members an early insight into how the biodiversity, quality of stay and microclimate on campus are to be improved. In addition to an exhibition, there are podcasts to listen to and you can find out, among other things, what goals planners have pursued in their optimization measures. A microclimate analysis provides insights into the effectiveness of the planned measures. In addition, tours of the campus areas present places where changes are planned and all participants are invited to discuss the sustainable development of the University of Kassel together.

The action days were initiated by the Green Office with the support of studiom2m3. The action days will take place from Tuesday, 21.10. to Thursday, 23.10.2025, from 10:00 to 16:00 in the foyer of the Campus Center. All university members are welcome.

As part of the action days, all interested parties will have the opportunity to contribute their suggestions and wishes for the design of the open spaces. The commissioned planning offices StadtLandschaft and k1 Landschaftsarchitekten will be on site to enter into a direct dialog with participants and take up their ideas.
