Mechanical Engineering (Master)

Mechanical engineers plan and design technical products and processes of all kinds. They are responsible for the development and utilization of new technologies as well as the design and manufacture of innovative products. Graduates of the Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering are sought-after managers, for example in project planning, design, maintenance or quality assurance.

The three-semester Master's degree course at the University of Kassel builds on the knowledge that students have acquired in their previous Bachelor's degree. There are only a few compulsory courses. Instead, the course offers sufficient scope for individual specialization in the following areas

• Sustainable materials and manufacturing processes
• Energy technology and environmental technology
• Automation and digital transformation
• Modeling and simulation in applied mechanics
• People - Organization - Technology
• Sustainable vehicle technology

If you decide to study mechanical engineering, all doors are literally open to you once you have successfully completed your studies. The Master's degree not only entitles you to pursue a career in engineering, but also to do a doctorate and independent scientific research. Interdisciplinary work is carried out in all areas of mechanical engineering for future-oriented research and development. There is also an international focus in Kassel: you can complete semesters and internships abroad and, in consultation with your supervisors, write your Master's thesis in English (or another language).
