Career prospects

The occupational fields for physicists are diverse. Only around a fifth work in the traditional occupation of physicist. Physicists are also in demand in IT and financial professions, sales, management, consulting and teaching. The long-term development of the labor market is very positive. Unemployment hardly plays a role and, with the exception of cyclical fluctuations, unemployment figures have been falling for decades. Statistics show that Physics graduates are the most satisfied with their choice of subject of all subjects. The research focus areas of optics and nanotechnology pursued in Kassel are particularly promising for the future.
