Texts are made from texts, images from images and music from music - this has always been true, but plays an important role in the discourses of (post-)modernism. More illuminating than a systematic examination of these references, however, is often a look at the aesthetic consequences of reception: Does contemporary (textual) art speculate on recipients who are (aware of) all references? Or does literature also function without this elitist reckoning? With the elimination of the ͵Big Senseʹ (Rainald Goetz), does it perhaps even install a new intellectual gatekeeper to enjoyment: the willingness to acknowledge that the ͵Leftʹ leads to a reference hell without a center?
