Lecture: Measuring the impact of publications in research evaluation

The lecture gives an overview of the possibilities and limitations of measuring the impact of publications (with the help of bibliometrics). The differences between professional and amateur bibliometrics will be shown. Some application examples of professional bibliometrics will be presented (especially visualization possibilities). Finally, the topic of altmetrics (which is propagated as an alternative to bibliometrics) is discussed.
