FoSS: Short-time work in the corona pandemic: Between crisis management and transformation of the world of work

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the instrument of short-time work was used in unprecedented dimensions. This instrument, which has been part of the repertoire of German labor market policy for over 100 years, is facing new challenges, both crisis-specific and structural: On the one hand, the crisis is also affecting sectors that have had little experience with the instrument to date. On the other hand, the crisis goes hand in hand with the ecological and digital transformation of work. This raises the question of the extent to which short-time work has been successfully adapted to these new challenges.
