Introduction and start of studies

There is not just one introductory event at the University of Kassel. Rather, there is an extensive range of different "organizers":

• On the one hand, the departments offer an official program. This type of introduction is about the subject: What is the subject about? What specializations are offered in Kassel? Which Professors and subject areas determine the content? So: be sure to attend and ask questions!
• For some (not all) degree programs and subjects, we recommend attending preliminary courses. Pre-courses are aimed at first-year students who would like to refresh their knowledge in certain subjects. The preliminary courses start before the introductory dates.
• The student councils often also offer introductory events. The student council is part of the student self-organization and deals with the specific questions of the students of a department. In terms of content, it deals with questions about the course of studies, the organization of the curriculum, learning organization and examinations. The student councils therefore offer help on how best to study this subject.
• There are also "welcome events": First semester welcome, offers for students with children, offers for international students.

Dear first semester students,

Welcome to the University of Kassel and to Faculty 02! To make it easier for you to start your studies, we have prepared a three-day program for you, including a campus tour and joint timetabling - by students for students. We will meet on the first day (07.10.2025) at 10 a.m. in front of Diagonale 1 and then go together to the room designated for the next part. Please note that the different parts of the introduction may take place in different locations and you may be divided into groups.

- General introduction to everyday university life with all new students of the subject

- Subsequent division into the study programs

Part 2, approx. 12:00-16:00:

Location: Kurt-Wolters-Straße 5, Room 0020

- Campus tour

- Creation of the university account

- Further general information and preparation for the next day of orientation

Wednesday, 08.10.25, 10 am - 4 pm - Please bring your laptop or tablet!

- Introduction to the Moodle and eCampus platforms

- Introduction to the module examination regulations

- Creation of the timetable

- Campus rally

Thursday, 09.10.25, 3 p.m. - open end:

- Get-together with all new students of the department

- Clarification of open questions

- Drinks, board games, karaoke, possibly pub quiz
