More than 3,300 people work on the success of the University of Kassel every day and semester after semester. In addition to the people who research and teach here, more than 1,300 employees in the administrative-technical area ensure the optimal framework.

Financially supplied

As a public sector employer that is independent of economic fluctuations, the University of Kassel offers you one thing above all: security. That is financial security and planning security for the coming years of your working life. The transparent salary is based on the collective bargaining agreement. In addition, there is the option of annual special payments (with exceptions - e.g. not possible for civil servants) and the additional company pension scheme (VBL). You are also entitled to capital-forming benefits.

Working Flexibly

We value a healthy work-life balance. That’s why we’re continuing to refine our work schedules, expanding our flex-time options, and enabling remote work whenever tasks allow. This gives you more flexibility in your daily life. In suitable departments, individualized work schedule arrangements are also possible. To help you recharge, you’ll have 30 vacation days per year on a 5-day workweek.

Kassel is beautiful. But Hesse is more beautiful. As an employee of the University of Kassel, you will receive a Hessen-wide state ticket that will allow you to discover the most beautiful places in our state. At our university, all the best things are close together, which is why your workplace is centrally located. You can get there easily from every corner of Kassel using public transportation. On our inexpensive parking spaces on the university grounds, your car has its place - or your own e-bike, for which you can get the necessary loan from us.

Family first

Our task is to train and support people who will shape the future of the working world. This support starts with the youngest, because we attach great importance to the compatibility of work and family life. In addition to the child allowance according to TV-Hessen (in accordance with § 23a TV-H), we offer your family a company kindergarten (if you live in Kassel), flexible entry after parental leave and an open door for the offspring who visit mom or dad at work.

Health

The University of Kassel views health as an important component of a modern work and learning environment. Through a wide range of workplace health promotion and university sports programs, it supports its employees in integrating physical activity, relaxation, and well-being into their daily work lives. A balanced diet also contributes to a healthy lifestyle: The dining halls and cafeterias at the various campuses offer a wide variety of options to suit different dietary preferences. The health portal brings together information, events, and programs related to health and well-being at the university and provides a central overview of all support and prevention services.
