Organizational structure

The Executive Board is the central decision-making body of the GETRA Competence Center and makes fundamental decisions. Its members (with the exception of the coordinator) are elected for a two-year term at the annual general meeting. A spokesperson and a deputy spokesperson are elected from among the members of the Executive Board.

The Extended Board of Directors advises the Board of Directors, including on central structural decisions. It consists of the head of the Gender Equality Office and representatives of the centers, research clusters and participating departments of the University of Kassel (if they are members of the Center for Gender Studies).

The General Assembly consists of all researchers and students involved in the GETRA Competence Center. At the General Assembly, which is held at least once a year, the First Spokesperson reports on the Competence Center’s developments and activities, as well as on the major structural decisions made during the previous year. All members may present the results of their work and discuss future research projects, follow-up funding initiatives, and similar matters. At the meeting, members may address any scientific or organizational issues concerning the Competence Center.

The general meeting elects the Executive Board for a term of two years by a majority vote of the members present.

All members of the University of Kassel can apply in writing for membership of the Center. In this application, the content-related references to intersectional, interdisciplinary and international gender research should be presented. On this basis, the Board of Directors decides on the admission of new members, in the case of professorial members with the approval of the Presidential Board.
