Organizational structure

The Board of Directors is the central decision-making body of the Competence Center and makes fundamental decisions. The members (except for the coordinator) are elected for two years at the annual general meeting. A spokesperson and a deputy spokesperson are elected within the Board of Directors.

The Extended Board of Directors advises the Board of Directors, including on central structural decisions. It consists of the head of the Gender Equality Office and representatives of the centers, research clusters and participating departments of the University of Kassel (if they are members of the Center for Gender Studies).

The General Assembly consists of all scientists and students involved in the Competence Center. At the general meeting, which takes place at least once a year, the 1st spokesperson reports on the developments and work of the Competence Center as well as on the main structural decisions of the previous year. All members can present the results of their work and present and discuss future research projects, follow-up funding measures and the like. All scientific and organizational issues of the Competence Centre can be discussed by the members.

The General Assembly elects the Board of Directors for a period of two years by a majority of the members present.

All members of the University of Kassel can apply in writing for membership of the Center. In this application, the content-related references to intersectional, interdisciplinary and international gender research should be presented. On this basis, the Board of Directors decides on the admission of new members, in the case of professorial members with the approval of the Presidential Board.
