Science meets business: Simulation as a tool for sustainable production and logistics systems

Simulation has established itself as a tool for analyzing dynamic relationships in the planning of production and logistics systems. With the increased need to evaluate sustainability indicators, the additional integration of influencing factors into the simulation, which allow the design of sustainable production and logistics systems, appears to be a promising approach.

For several years now, the focus of simulation-based planning of production and logistics systems has therefore been on the consideration of energy-related target variables. The specialist group "Simulation in Production and Logistics" (SPL) of the Simulation Working Group (ASIM) in the Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI) e.V. has taken up this development and constituted a research group in 2014 that deals with the consideration of energy aspects in simulation. The first results of the research group were published in ASIM Communication AM183 (2023), among others. However, many questions remain unanswered regarding the type of modelling and simulation as well as the effort and benefits of taking energy-related influencing factors into account.

The aim of the event is therefore to discuss the challenges and opportunities of using simulation for sustainable production and logistics systems from a scientific and business perspective in presentations and discussions. In addition, the status quo and needs with regard to the consideration of energy influencing factors in the simulation of production and logistics systems in industrial applications will be recorded and discussed in a survey.

The event thus promotes the exchange of ideas and solutions and offers companies valuable insights into the simulation of energy-efficient and sustainable production and logistics systems.

The event is held in German.
