What are preliminary courses?

For some degree programs and subjects, we recommend participation in preliminary courses. Pre-courses are aimed at first-year students who would like to refresh their knowledge in Mathematics, Chemistry* and/or Spanish. The preliminary courses start before the actual introductory dates.

What are preliminary courses?: Vorkursempfehlungen

Preliminary course in mathematics

The preliminary mathematics course usually takes place over several weeks before the start of lectures in the winter semester and mainly repeats the most important school mathematics topics for university. This course, which is recommended for everyone, refreshes your mathematics knowledge from school, prepares you for the mathematics entrance test and reveals possible gaps that are then closed in the advanced mathematics course.

In order to receive credit for the MINT accompanying program (4 SWS), a course achievement in the form of written reflection tasks must be completed.

The "Kompakt 1/2" course is intended for plusMINT students. Click here for the specific dates and the necessary registration:

Chemistry preliminary course

The chemistry preliminary course (exclusively for plusMINT students) is an intensive course for important chemical basics and is particularly recommended for students interested in the majors of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, nanostructure science, physics and environmental engineering, as these majors include chemistry components.

The course consists of an online course on the Moodle platform and can be attended alongside the preliminary mathematics course, probably from September. Participation requires completed enrolment in the plusMINT course and activation of the UniAccount.

In order to receive credit for the MINT accompanying program (as 4 SWS), a study achievement in the form of successfully completed exercises must be provided.

Further information will follow in the introductory events.
