Application with German certificates

Step-by-step instructions

1. 1.General requirement

   • Do I have a university entrance qualification?

   University entrance qualification

   In order to be able to study, you first need a degree certificate that entitles you to study at a university (university entrance qualification): Allgemeine Hochschulreife or a vocational qualification(studying without Abitur).

   You can find a good overview of the various qualifications and their differences on the information page "Admission requirements" of the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art.

   Entrance examination

   The application procedure for all artistic and design degree courses includes participation in an entrance examination. You can only enrol for this degree course after passing the entrance examination. Admission to the degree course may also be possible without a certificate of general higher education entrance qualification if outstanding artistic talent has been established in the aptitude test.

2. 2.Entrance examination

   Approximately 10 days after the entrance examinations, you will receive the result from the examination board:

   1. "Passed"
      If you have passed the entrance examination, we will also need a certificate of general higher education entrance qualification from you.
   2. "Passed with distinction"
      If you have passed the examination "with distinction", you can study without proof of a general higher education entrance qualification.
   3. "Not passed"

3. 3.Deadline

   • I have passed the exam. I will be informed of the enrollment deadline in the written notification.

   "Enrollment" means that you accept the study place offered.

4. 4.Documents

   For enrollment you need:

   1. Result of the entrance examination.
   2. If the result is "passed": officially certified copy of your general higher education entrance qualification certificate (Abitur)
   3. Proof of health insurance ("Certificate for submission to the university")
      Membership certificates are not accepted. If you are privately insured, you can obtain a certificate of exemption from the statutory health insurance obligation from any statutory health insurance company responsible for your place of residence or university. 5. 5.Application

   Registration
   Fill out application

   Preparation:

   • Do I have access to my university entrance qualification (e.g. the certificate of general higher education entrance qualification) and a current digital portrait photo?
   • I am using a desktop PC or laptop. The online application is not suitable for smartphones.

   Register(only possible during the specified period):

   • I open the website of the application portal "eCampus": https://ecampus.uni-kassel.de
   • I click on"Application" and then on"Registration".
   • I enter my details and set a password.
   • I receive an e-mail and click on the confirmation link in the e-mail.

   Fill in the application:

   • I log in again to the "eCampus" application portal with my user name and password.
   • I click on the menu item"My studies" and then on"Study application" and complete the form.

   For the CampusCard (student ID card, see step no. 7), we need a digital portrait photo of you. The photo should correspond approximately to the specifications for the creation of official passport photos and should not exceed the maximum size of 5 megabytes. The permitted image formats are jpg, jpeg and png.

6. 6.Semester fee

   • I transfer the semester fee.

   Fees are charged each semester (administration fee, student union, semester ticket, AStA). You can find information about the exact amount, payment deadlines and formalities for the semester fee here: Semester fee

7. 7.CampusCard

   • I will receive the CampusCard after the semester fee has been received by the University of Kassel.

   The CampusCard is your student ID card for the entire duration of your studies. It is also your semester ticket and has other functions: Library card, cultural ticket, payment card in the canteen, photocopying card, etc. Further information can be found here: CampusCard

8. 8.Introduction

   • I receive a postcard informing me that the dates of the introductory events are online. The dates for the summer semester are expected to be published from February and for the winter semester from August.
   • I check the Start of Studies website to see which dates are relevant for me.
   • I attend the introductory events at the Kunsthochschule in the first week of the semester (before the regular events).

   The introductory events answer key questions about the structure of the degree program. Here you will find tips and advice on how to organize your studies and the course of study. The timetables are drawn up during this time. You will also get to know your future fellow students and the campus. So: make sure you go!
