Social Law and Social Economy (Master)

The German social benefits system is subject to constant change, which has an impact on the work of companies in the social economy, welfare organizations and social service providers. The Master's degree in Social Law and Social Economy (LL.M.) opens up a future-oriented and diverse field of activity for specialists in the field of social law.

The course deepens legal, social and economic knowledge and enables graduates to analyze and shape complicated legal relationships. Lecturers from academia and practice, including judges from the Federal Social Court (BSG), impart the necessary skills. The Master's degree is a cooperative course between the University of Kassel and Fulda University of Applied Sciences. Students benefit from cross-university teaching and lectures from the joint Research Network for Social Law and Social Policy (FoSS).

The three-semester course is not admission-restricted. Admission requirements are a Bachelor's degree in Social Law, Social Work, Business Law or an equivalent degree with a grade of at least "good" (2.5). Alternatively, a first or second state examination in law with a grade of at least "satisfactory" entitles you to study.

Students receive a law degree that opens up a wide range of career prospects, as they are able to analyze networking structures between the various social service providers, resolve conflicts and establish cooperation. This enables graduates to work as (senior) employees in welfare organizations and companies in the social economy, at social insurance institutions or as project managers for research projects in the public sector.
