Prof. Dr. Bärbel Wesselborg

New to the Department of Economics

Effective September 1, 2026, Bärbel Wesselborg assumed the newly created professorship in Vocational Education with a focus on Nursing and Health at the Institute for Vocational Education. Previously, she was a Professor at Fliedner University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf, where she directed the master’s program in Vocational Education in Nursing and Health. Her research combines issues related to the professionalization of educators in the fields of nursing and health with subject-specific pedagogy, teaching and learning research, and digitalization. Among other things, she examines the implementation of curricular innovations in nursing education, the quality of learning tasks, and interprofessional teaching and learning processes. Since earning her Ph.D. in Education from the University of Tübingen, she has also been conducting research on teacher health and health promotion. In Kassel, she will focus in particular on advancing the professionalization of teacher education in the nursing and health professions, as well as strengthening the empirical foundation of subject-specific pedagogy in these fields.
