Discussion event with climate expert Mojib Latif for students at the University of Kassel
Image: Jann WilkenMeteorologist and oceanographer Mojib Latif is one of Germany's best-known climate experts - and he will be visiting the University of Kassel on September 27. Pupils and students from Kassel will have the opportunity to talk to him directly and immerse themselves in the topic of sustainability shortly before the start of the semester.
At the end of September, Latif receives the "Glass of Reason", an award from the citizens of Kassel. The board of directors and trustees of the Kassel Citizens' Award will honor the way he scientifically researches the connection between mankind and the earth, communicates it in a way that is generally understandable and draws attention to the responsibility we all have.
On the day before the award ceremony, Latif will discuss reason as a compass for climate change with University President Prof. Ute Clement, the Chairman of the Board of the Society of Friends and Sponsors of the Prize, Prof. Wilfried Sommer, and young people from Kassel at the UNI:Lokal.
Anyone studying at the University of Kassel in the coming winter semester is welcome to attend and, together with the Kassel Youth Symposium, will have the opportunity to get to know Latif and exchange ideas with him. Registration is not necessary for current and future students of the University of Kassel. Visitors to the discussion on September 27 at UNI:Lokal can also pick up a free ticket for the festive award ceremony on September 28, 2025 (at 11:30 a.m. in the opera house of the Staatstheater Kassel) in person. (Tickets can only be picked up at this event, not in advance).
