"eXtatic dreaming 360°" animation class from the art academy shows films in the Orangery

as part of the 42nd Kassel Documentary and Video Festival

Moving images can enrapture us and send our minds on a journey. Sometimes they can even put us in ecstatic states. In a joint project with the Festival of Animation Berlin, the students of the animation class at the School of Art and Design in Kassel have explored how such wonderful states of mind can be created through cinematic means and have transferred their findings to the curved screen in the form of their own cinematic interpretations. The result is a 360° film program for domed rooms that approaches the theme of ecstasy from a wide variety of angles. From the tickling in the stomach during a dreamed fall into the depths, the illuminating enlightenment after long brooding, the joy of nonsense, a pleasant creepiness, to the great mental fireworks triggered by physical connection. This is an invitation to enjoy the rapture for a little while in the immersive envelope of the dome.
