The exhibition at ORBIT examines historical continuities of National Socialism and opens up international, plural perspectives on state-legitimized violence, resistance and remembrance.

On display are projects by students of architecture, urban and landscape planning, University of Kassel, created in the seminar "Spatial concepts for remembrance" summer semester 2025.

Königstor memorial
The listed building Königstor 31 in Kassel was built between 1904 and 1907 as a police headquarters according to plans by Senior Building Officer Oskar Launer and Building Officer Emil Seligmann. From 1933, it also served as the headquarters of the Kassel Gestapo until it moved to a new building at Wilhelmshöher Allee 32 in 1938. The building continued to serve as police headquarters until 1999. After it moved out, the building was put to interim use. The building is a listed building and is owned by the state of Hesse. The state of Hesse is preparing to develop and sell the property in 2022/2023.
