Katt Both. The Bauhaus in Kassel | Reading "WE ARE MILLENIUM STARS. The Letters by Helena Syrkus"
Image: Nicolas WefersWith around 350 visitors, the exhibition "Katt Both. Bauhaus architect from Kassel" by the Department of Design and Building Theory was opened on February 10 in the exhibition hall of the Kunsthochschule. Patron Lord Mayor Dr. Sven Schoeller and University President Prof. Dr. Ute Clement opened the major exhibition, which for the first time sheds light on the life and projects of Kassel architect and photographer Katt Both. The exhibition offers virtual impressions of rooms, models, drawings, plans, films, photographs and self-portraits of Katt Both, all documents that have never been shown before.
The exhibition is complemented by current photographic works by the artists Christina Gradtke and Leonard Volkmer from Prof. Peggy Buth's class. These young positions from Kassel underline the interdisciplinary character of the exhibition, which expands the radius of the exhibition internationally with works by Lena Kienzer, Maria Lassnig, Brigitte Kowanz, Isa Rosenberger, Michaela Schwendter and Jakob Lena Knebl.
A special program is offered every Friday from 5 to 6 pm:
It starts on 20.2. with a reading "WE ARE MILLENIUM STARS. The Letters by Helena Syrkus.", with Maja Wirkus and Eric Pries. On February 27, art historian Dr. Anja Guttenberger will give a lecture on photography at the Bauhaus entitled "bauhaus.foto: Aus Experiment wird Profession". On March 6, Dr. Anke Blümm, Dr. Jens Uwe Fischer and Dr. Ute Maasberg will discuss the disruption of modernism, the continuities in personnel and design, moderated by Prof. Dr. Felix Vogel.
