Childcare during School Holidays
It can be especially challenging for staff and students to organise childcare during school holidays.
Therefore, in cooperation with other institutions, the University of Kassel, offers a variety of options for holiday childcare. You can find current information on this page.
Vacation games at the Lernhof for children aged 6-12 years
Period: 07.07.-11.07.2025 from 09-14 o'clock (first holiday week)
14.07.-18.07.2025 from 09-14 o'clock (second holiday week)
Location: Lernhof, Weg in der Aue 75, 34128 Kassel
Costs: 150€, siblings 80€ (costs per week including lunch)
The vacation games at the Lernhof allow children to come into contact with the animals that live there. In addition, a program focusing on animal and nature-based education is offered (e.g. joint animal care, donkey walks, outdoor cooking, creative activities).
A fixed number of places are available for the children of employees and students of the University of Kassel.

Water holiday games on the Fulda for children aged 9-15 years
Period: 21.07.- 25.07.2025 from 9 am to 4 pm (3rd holiday week)
28.07.- 01.08.2025 from 9 am to 4 pm (4th holiday week)
Location: KVH Kassel grounds
Costs: 130€ per week
The water games program is open and adapted to the wishes and interests of the participating children. Almost anything is possible, from water fun, board games and exercise activities to relaxation through painting or creative work. There is a wide range of sports on offer with SUPs (stand up paddling) and canoes on the water, as well as cool activities on land, e.g. various sports games. Children can play badminton, try their hand at slackline, cross boccia or boules and much more. A quieter program with puzzles, handicrafts and painting is also planned. The sports youth teamers are flexible and can also accommodate last-minute ideas.
Please note: Participating children must have the bronze swimming badge to be able to go on the Fulda. A certain level of swimming ability is essential to ensure everyone's safety. For additional safety, the children and team members always wear life jackets.

Imagine you are a farmer and you are supposed to provide people with food and whatever else they need. What would you grow and how? The children plan their own year of cultivation, explore wishes, opportunities and obstacles in their role and can gain practical experience by creating a bed (area buffet) in the garden. Cooperation between Bildung trifft Entwicklung, Bündnis für Familie and WeltGarten Witzenhausen, with Ines Fehrmann, for children aged 8-12.

Healthy, tasty, climate-friendly or unpopular? Tomatoes from our own garden, tomato sauce on ready-made pizza or gummy bears colored with beet - vegetables are part of our everyday lives. The children explore it with their own hands from seed to cultivation to the plate, taste diversity and discover how people around the world contribute to our food. What does happiness mean to you? The children explore what makes them happy - chocolate, playing with friends, a walk in the forest or a new toy? They get to know countries that set happiness as a goal for everyone, try out what plants, people around the world or children's rights have to do with it and create their own personal "land of happiness".

The Kassel MINT vacations for children and young people aged 12 and over and the vacation academy for pupils in grades 3-6 took place in the first two weeks of the summer holidays.
