Diversity - Research - Social Work (Master)

Social diversity is a starting point for the further development of theory, research and practice in social work. The research-oriented Master's offers students the opportunity to learn to analyze the complex interplay of diversity, social differentiation and social inequality from various theoretical perspectives. This is put into practice using exemplary theoretical and research approaches - for example, migration, gender and inclusion research or ageing, health and therapy research. All courses from this spectrum are closely related to the research activities of the Institute of Social Work.

In the empirical part of the research-oriented Master's degree course (research workshops, research internships), issues relating to social diversity are examined in an exemplary manner. The aim of the Master's program is to impart interdisciplinary basic theoretical knowledge and methodological research skills. This is done with systematic reference to social work issues. This results in a specific professional profile of social work in dealing with social diversity, social inequality and risks of exclusion. Social work is strengthened in its fundamental task of reflecting on social conflicts and promoting social cohesion processes. The course enables a continuous interplay between theoretical questions and practical research tasks. Interdisciplinary perspectives on social work in the context of social change are developed, taking into account international comparative approaches.
