Questions and answers about exams and changing subjects
The registration period for an exam generally begins 4 weeks before the actual exam date and ends 7 days before, whereby the day of the exam does not count!
Example:
exam date is Monday, 03.09. You can register until Sunday, 26.08./ 23.59 h.
- When registering for exams, please always pay attention to possible system messages.
- To check whether you have registered correctly, you should check this in your account under registered services!
Please always pay attention to the status of the registration. This field indicates the reason why an examination registration is not accepted.
Possible reasons include missing coursework (e.g. for CAD), missing student advisory meeting (the study plan must be approved and submitted to the Examinations Office), missing credits (for participation in examinations in the main study program).
To check whether you have registered correctly, you should check this in your account under registered achievements!
If the exam registration has failed, please contact the Examinations Office by email within the registration deadline, even outside of opening hours!
In this case, please contact the Examination Office.
In the course catalog, not only the dates of the lecture but also the examination date can be found under the respective course. The room and the exact time are indicated here, and further information can also be found under Remarks.
Please make sure that you are in the correct semester, you may have to switch to the corresponding semester first.
Cancellation of an examination is possible until 11.59 p.m. the day before.
If you find that the system does not allow you to register, please contact the Examinations Office in writing(PA15[at]uni-kassel[dot]de) and ask for manual registration. Please also note the deadline for deregistration (date of e-mail receipt counts).
If you fall ill on the day of the examination, please submit the relevant certificate to the Examinations Office immediately in accordance with the General Provisions of the Examination Regulations. As a rule, it should be available after 3 working days at the latest, as is usual in a professional environment.
If you no longer feel able to complete the examination due to health problems, please contact the examination supervisor and have it noted that you are withdrawing from the examination due to illness and submit a corresponding certificate to the examination office immediately.
You register for the exam in the course. Exceptionally, you do not need to register for the exam in HIS. Please bring a copy of the certificate and your matriculation number to the Examinations Office. The entry will then be made manually.
If you have failed or definitively failed a compulsory elective subject, you have the option of changing subjects once per degree program in accordance with the General Provisions and the extended decision of the Examination Board. Please submit the application to the responsible Examination Board at the Examination Office. You must also change the study plan accordingly and have it signed off by the specialization advisor.
Once passed, examinations cannot be repeated.
You can register for the final examination by e-mail, by post or in person at the Examinations Office. Please bring the following documents with you when registering:
- The application for admission signed by you and the two assessors (examiners),
- the assignment of the thesis on a separate sheet from the respective subject area, as you only propose the topic in the application, but the issue must be documented accordingly,
- a current transcript of records, which you can print out yourself via your account,
- a simple (non-certified) copy of your Abitur certificate (for Bachelor) or a simple copy of your Bachelor certificate (for Master).
As soon as the final examination result has been entered in your account after the examination inspection, you have four weeks to submit an application for the oral supplementary examination granted once per degree program. Please submit the original signed application form, which you can find on our homepage, to the Examinations Office. It will then be reviewed and approved by the Examination Board. You will receive a message as soon as the application has been approved, after which you will arrange an appointment with the respective examiner.
