Informal part-time study

Studying at your own pace and in a self-determined amount of time on a full-time course?

A large proportion of students work to varying degrees in order to finance their living costs during their studies. This, as well as raising children, caring for relatives, personal circumstances and unforeseeable events can make it necessary to extend the duration of studies beyond the standard period of study of 6 semesters. The Bachelor's degree program in Social Work offers many opportunities to plan your studies flexibly.
and plan your studies flexibly.

Full-time - part-time?

The Bachelor's degree course in Social Work is designed as a full-time course with a standard period of study of 6 semesters, during which the 180 credits required for graduation can be achieved. The curriculum provides for approx. 30 credits per semester. One credit corresponds to 25 to 30 hours of study for course attendance, preparation and follow-up work, including examinations. If you receive financial support, e.g. BAFöG benefits, you must adhere to the standard period of study. The Bachelor's degree program in Social Work includes both compulsory lectures and seminars.

From the range of seminars offered in the various modules, students can select seminars that interest them thematically and that fit in with their schedule. This makes it possible to design the course flexibly and to study informally on a part-time basis. The prerequisite is sensible planning of the course of study, which takes into account the frequency of lectures and courses as well as the content and examination requirements.
