Dear students,

We thought long and hard about whether to use your first name or your last name. We have opted for a professional "you" here.

Who are we and what do we want from you?

We are the team for practical studies and are involved in your studies. Even after your Bachelor's degree in Social Work, we are responsible for the state recognition process. Unfortunately, you can't avoid us.

Here are the key people to contact if you have any questions or problems:

Everything to do with the accompanying seminars, internships abroad and content-related advice: Sabine Hoier

Everything to do with supervision and content-related advice: Julia Hellwig

Valentin Harnecker, Elena Wagner and the supporting team of student assistants are responsible for everything to do with your contracts, booking services, certificates and administrative advice.

In addition to the bureaucratic function, we see it as our task to provide you with a good practical experience. Therefore, please contact us if you have any problems, requests or suggestions regarding your internship. We always have an open ear for you and are grateful for your feedback. In this way, you will help us to make the practical work experience and state recognition even better.

We wish you a smooth course of studies and hope that you will gain good practical experience!

Your BPS team

PS: We are, of course, also the point of contact for internships, cooperation partners etc.!

Practice information

In the list of practice centers you will find possible practice centers in the zip code area 33000 to 34999 as well as institutions whose instructors have completed the instructor qualification of the University of Kassel. The BPS department will inform you about other recognized institutions. If the institution you have chosen is not yet recognized, the institution can submit an application for recognition. One of the prerequisites is that the specialist providing practical guidance is state-approved as a social pedagogue. Recommendations for practical guidance are summarized in the brochure of the Federal Working Group for Practice Supervisors. Here you will find, for example, information on pages 39-41 on how to draw up a training plan.

Practice fair

Our annual internship fair in the summer semester has developed into a meeting place between professional practice and the university. The fair offers a large number of social institutions the opportunity to present their field of work to an interested audience. It gives you the opportunity to find out about the wide range of internships on offer and to develop criteria for choosing an internship.

The next internship fair will take place on June 3, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. We look forward to receiving registrations by 01.04.2025 by e-mail to bps.ifs@uni-kassel.de! When registering, please indicate how many tables, chairs and partition walls you require.
