Our degree programmes

Combining foreign language, culture and business

The Bachelor's degree course "Culture and Business / French Studies" makes this possible. In six semesters, students not only deal intensively with the language, literature and history of francophone countries, but also learn about business and economics.

Teachers at grammar schools or primary, secondary and intermediate schools

Do you enjoy teaching and passing on the diversity of another culture to young people?
Then French as a teaching subject at primary, secondary and intermediate schools or grammar schools is the right choice for you. The University of Kassel offers a wide range of subject combinations.

Teachers at vocational schools

Vocational teachers combine working life and school at vocational schools. We offer two vocational education degree programs in which it is possible to study French as a second subject.

Bringing language and culture to life - with binational options

International Language and Cultural Mediation
With a practical orientation, the degree programme offers an insight into the broad profile of language and cultural mediation. In addition to imparting knowledge about multilingualism and intercultural competence, this includes various perspectives on linguistic and cultural participation as well as cultural education. Application references to learning in and out of school are always integrated.
Depending on their individual choice of language combination, students also acquire in-depth knowledge of English, French, Spanish and/or German. A stay abroad at a university is part of the program. For students who choose French in combination with German or English, there is also the option of a binational degree.

Minor subject French

Our combined Bachelor's degree offers you the opportunity to study French as a minor subject. The knowledge you acquire in your main/major subject is supplemented by language and communication skills in French and extended knowledge of the Francophone cultural area. These skills can be put to very good use in a later career in areas related to language, culture and communication.
