Vocational education - specialization in metal technology and electrical engineering (Master)

For teachers at vocational schools in metal and electrical engineering, these are fundamental concerns. Regardless of where graduates go on to teach, it is all about industrial-technical vocational education that takes equal account of operational innovations, trainees with heterogeneous learning requirements and modern and research-based technology didactics. In the Master's degree course in Vocational Education (M.Ed.), students can deepen the skills acquired in the Bachelor's degree - taking into account the chosen subject area of "metal technology" or "electrical engineering". It is also possible to transfer from engineering degree courses. In addition to the teaching subjects, core studies in education and social sciences are a compulsory part of the teacher training course at the University of Kassel.

The four-semester course is not subject to admission restrictions. Admission requirements are a Bachelor's degree in vocational education, at least 48 weeks of practical experience in the industrial-technical field and at least five weeks of school internships. Alternatively, admission is also possible with an equivalent degree. Graduates can start their traineeship at vocational schools, teach in vocational training institutions in the non-school sector or take on managerial training activities or activities in personnel and organizational development in the company. Vocational-technical teachers at vocational schools cooperate closely with those responsible for training in industrial and craft enterprises, among others. One of the central tasks of vocational teachers is to advise and support heterogeneous groups of students. They have the necessary vocational pedagogical, didactic, organizational and social skills to develop and implement innovations in school operations.
