Teaching degree for special needs education with a focus on inclusion (first state examination)

The "Teacher training for special needs education with a focus on inclusion" course trains teachers for work at special schools, inclusive mainstream schools and counseling and support centers.

The course includes the study of special needs and inclusion education with a focus on learning and emotional and social development. In the specialization area of learning, all students gain insights into the areas of basic language and mathematical education. In addition to an inclusion education module, you will also take the core course in education and social sciences, in which you will acquire knowledge and skills from the fields of education, psychology and social sciences. You will also specialize in a teaching subject of your choice.

The degree course is characterized by a strong practical orientation. In the practical phases at school during the five-week basic internship in the 2nd or 3rd semester, you will gain initial insights into the broad professional field. In the practical semester in the 5th or 6th semester, you will carry out your first supervised teaching experiments and learn to reflect on your experiences academically. You will also work closely on specific practical cases in the seminars. Joint study elements with students from other teaching disciplines as part of the core study program and the practical phases should enable you to gain your first experience of cooperation. The course concludes with the first state examination. You can then apply to a Studienseminar for the pedagogical preparatory service, which you complete with the Second State Examination.
