University entrance WITHOUT professional promotion qualification

If you cannot provide proof of any professional qualifications (see University entrance WITH professional qualifications), you have the option of taking the university entrance examination for professionally qualified students to obtain a subject-specific university entrance qualification for the degree programme you are aiming for.

To apply for a university entrance examination at a university in Hessen, you must meet the following application requirements:

• at least two years of vocational training in a recognized training occupation
• at least 2 years of professional experience through full-time employment (after completing professional training)

If you are aiming to study a subject that is not related to the professional training or professional activity you have completed, you must also provide proof of at least 400 hours of relevant and qualified further training in a field related to the subject you are aiming to study.

The university entrance examination can be taken for various fields of study. The certificate of passing the examination entitles you - in accordance with the applicable regulations - to study in a degree program in the chosen field of study at the universities/vocational academies in the state of Hesse. The university entrance qualification remains valid even if you are unable to start a course of study immediately.

The (fee-based) examination consists of an interview and a written part. The content of the examination depends on your chosen field of study. You can also be examined for several areas of study. The examination location depends on your chosen field of study. The universities in Hesse have divided up the areas of study. Therefore, please check the list below to see which university is a test center for your desired field of study.

At the University of Kassel you can be examined for the following fields of study:

• Linguistics and Cultural Studies
• Pedagogy, teaching degree for elementary school and teaching degree for lower and intermediate secondary schools/special schools
