The focus area covers animation as a form of artistic experience and a means of communication, with classical animated films as the foundation. This basis can then open up into the wide variety of contemporary animation, including digital methods of production, experimental technologies, and interactive narrative forms. It is expected that Candidates are able to demonstrate an exceptional, internationally recognized artistic practice in the area of animation art. They should have a deep knowledge of both the various classical and digital animation technologies as well as theoretical debates about the fundamentals of the medium. They should reflect on animation in its aesthetic, technological, theoretical, and political dimensions in both teaching and research.

The position will require collaborating with other departments at the Kunsthochschule by interacting with artistic-creative development plans.

Applicants must demonstrate their qualifications for teaching and hold appropriate teaching experience. Participation in academic self-administration is also expected.

The employment and performance requirements apply pursuant to §§ 61, 62 of the Higher Education Act of Hessen.

The appointment will be made on an employment basis.
