2000 educationalists expected at the University of Kassel

The 25th Congress of the DGfE is themed "Spaces for Education. Spaces of Education" and will take place from March 13 to 16, 2016. Participants will discuss, for example, strategies to make the education system more permeable and more equal in terms of opportunities, or to improve the training of teachers and educators, as well as issues such as inclusion or the contemporary design of schools and classrooms. The website for the congress has just been launched, some 14 months before the start of the congress.

The President of the University of Kassel, Prof. Dr. Rolf-Dieter Postlep, described the DGfE's decision in favor of Kassel as the venue for the congress as "recognition of the effective work of our educational scientists. I am sure that the University of Kassel, with its new Campus Center then in operation, will be an excellent place for a fruitful exchange." The University of Kassel and its affiliated School of the Arts are also supporting the organization with the supporting program.

The chairman of the DGfE, Prof. Dr. Hans-Christoph Koller, emphasizes that the congress addresses an important topic with the keyword "Spaces for Education": "The congress theme expresses that education needs space both literally and figuratively. Education needs architecturally appealing environments for teaching and learning as well as a prominent place in society and, last but not least, scope for transformative thinking and action to enable all people to participate in social life."

For the Kassel educationalist Prof. Dr. Edith Glaser, who together with her colleague Prof. Dr. Werner Thole has taken over the chairmanship of the local organizing committee, the University of Kassel in particular, which as a young university launched trend-setting innovations in teacher training and social work at an early stage, is the right place to scientifically examine the space as an educator in all its diversity.
