17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a global action plan drawn up by the United Nations to create a more sustainable world by 2030. In its work, the Institute refers to these 17 SDGs, but does not simply assume their validity, but takes into account synergies and contradictions within the SDGs and subjects both the SDGs and the concept of sustainability to a critical revision, especially against the background of alternative concepts from the Global South.

We, the global community, have the following goals for the year 2030:

  1. No poverty: The goal is to end poverty in all its forms and everywhere so that no one has to go hungry or live in extreme poverty.
  2. No hunger: We want to ensure that everyone has enough to eat and receives a healthy diet.
  3. Health and well-being: This goal aims to promote the health of all people and ensure that they can lead a healthy life.
  4. Quality education: everyone should have the opportunity to receive a good education in order to have better opportunities in life
  5. Gender equality: men and women should have the same rights and opportunities
  6. Clean water and sanitation: We want all people to have access to clean drinking water and adequate adequate toilets.
  7. Affordable and clean energy: We want energy sources to be cleaner and affordable for all.
  8. Decent work and economic growth: The aim is to create good jobs and promote sustainable economic development.
  9. Industry, innovation and infrastructure: We want to improve infrastructure and promote innovative technologies.
  10. Less inequality: Inequalities within and between countries should be reduced.
  11. Sustainable cities and communities: Cities should be liveable, safe and sustainable for all residents.
  12. Responsible consumption and production patterns: We should use resources sparingly and produce and consume sustainably.
  13. Climate protection measures: The aim is to combat climate change and minimize its effects.
  14. Life under water: We must protect the oceans as they are vital for the earth.
  15. Life on land: The aim is to preserve biodiversity and protect forests, meadows and terrestrial ecosystems.
  16. Peace, justice and strong institutions: Promote peace and justice and build strong institutions that act fairly for all.
  17. Partnerships to achieve the goals: Collaboration between countries, organizations and businesses to achieve the goals.
