The advanced training course "Innovation Management Energy" imparts competencies in the areas of energy systems, digitalization and energy markets as well as innovation and change management. Specialists and managers can get fit in three months while working to develop and successfully implement sustainable and value-adding products, processes and energy systems in an entrepreneurial context. A direct application reference is established by working on practical cases. The scientific director of the program is Prof. Dr. Heike Wetzel, together with Prof. Dr. Peter Birkner, House of Energy.

The State Secretary of the Hessian Ministry of Economics and Chairman of the Board of the House of Energy Jens Deutschendorf welcomes the advanced training: "Hesse wants to cover its energy needs completely from renewable sources in 2050. To achieve this, we need many smart people who can also implement the energy turnaround in companies - after all, three quarters of our primary energy consumption is accounted for by the economy. This is exactly where the new continuing education program of the University of Kassel and the House of Energy comes in."

Kassel District President Hermann-Josef Klüber is also strongly committed to energy issues: "New and complex challenges in the energy world of tomorrow can be mastered after completing this advanced training. Because it's a world in which energy supply and climate protection are being rethought, digitalization is playing a significant role, industry boundaries are blurring and business models are changing."

The fundamental transformation of the energy system is associated with opportunities and risks - both for established and young companies, within and outside the traditional energy industry. New competitors and shorter innovation cycles are constantly presenting companies with new challenges. In many cases, conventional paths have to be abandoned and new solutions developed. This is accompanied by increasing demands on technical and management personnel and requires a high level of motivation, specialized knowledge and action competence. The energy transition and the intelligent linking of the electricity, heat and mobility sectors require flexibly controllable energy systems on both a small and large scale.

Upon completion of the program, graduates receive the certificate "Qualified Innovation Manager for Energy Systems" from the University of Kassel (credits: 6 ECTS). If desired, an IHK certificate with the title "Energy Innovation Manager (IHK)" can be issued. Energy efficiency experts can have the further training credited by dena.

Depending on the Corona situation, seminar blocks are switched to online. In principle, face-to-face seminars take place under Corona-compliant hygiene conditions.

The course focuses on energy markets as well as innovation and change management, and brings this together in the project work using exemplary practical cases.
