Final spurt for the "knowledge store

Until Saturday, August 20, 2022, "100 Ideas for Tomorrow's World" from the University of Kassel can be experienced by a wide audience in the Königsgalerie. With a positive interim conclusion and a diverse final program, the Wissensspeicher is entering the home stretch.

"The experiment of going out of university into the city center with an exhibition for a more sustainable future and appealing to a broad audience has worked. For a month now, we have been experiencing how great the interest is in the region in discussing the major challenges of our time with students, scientists and startups from the university. Likewise, the knowledge store brings players into contact with each other who have not met before - and does so in an informal summer atmosphere," sums up Daniel Opper, initiator of the exhibition and head of UniKasselTransfer, the university's central knowledge transfer facility.

Visitors will have the opportunity to do so until August 20: In the last week of the exhibition, the Wissensspeicher invites visitors to further dialog events: In the "Kitchen Talks" on Tuesday, August 16, 6 p.m., President Prof. Dr. Ute Clement will be one of the guests and will discuss with other participants how sustainability issues can be strengthened in the context of the university and urban society. In the "KuSoKo" on Thursday August 18, 6 p.m., designed by Studio Raamwerk, projects from the knowledge repository will present themselves in short impulse lectures on the topic "Future Materials - Future Technologies". An interactive and participatory workshop - the Citizen Entrepreneurship Lab - organized by Science Park Kassel will conclude the program of events on Friday, August 19, 6 pm.

There is a lot of interest in the project: "In the Knowledge Store, we want to get into conversation with the visitors and initiate a dialog with the scientists. That worked out great - the innovative dialog formats, which are aimed at a broad non-university audience, were very well received and we had many interesting conversations about how we want to live in the future. The projects have also networked with each other," reports Kathrin Meckbach, one of the organizers of UniKasselTransfer. In this way, the knowledge repository fulfills a central transfer task of bringing science and society into closer contact with each other.

Manuela Greipel, who co-organized the exhibition and managed its production, is pleased with its success: "The Knowledge Store shares inspirations from the university's research with society - the participatory exhibition concept has received a very good response. The collaboration with Studio Raamwerk in the development of the exhibition concept and the great participation of the idea contributors have realized a great result."

For the knowledge store, Raamwerk designed 100 seating cubes with the 100 ideas, which in themselves have become 100 small unique pieces and were printed by CNC milling using a specially developed process. They serve as seating in the exhibition and at indoor and outdoor events and present information for each project. All pieces are reusable or recyclable - making the exhibition itself sustainable.

So far, over 1000 visitors have visited the exhibition.
