Exhibition hall receives plaque for "Excellent Architecture in Hesse

The Association of German Architects BDA Hessen is pleased to announce the results of the BDA Architecture Award "Excellent Architecture in Hesse - Simon-Louis-du-Ry-Plakette" 2023 of the BDA groups Central Hesse and Kassel. The prize winners:inside can be found here.

The award ceremony to the building owners with their architects of the awarded buildings will take place on March 21, 2023 at 7 pm at KAZimKUBA (Kasseler Architekturzentrum im KulturBahnhof). Prof. Renate Fehling from Darmstadt will give the laudatory speech on behalf of the jury and present the Simon-Louis-du-Ry plaques to the award winners. Already on March 15, 2023, the corresponding exhibition will be opened at KAZimKUBA. On display will be all 58 buildings submitted to the competition.

Admitted to the jury session of the Simon-Louis-du-Ry-Plakette 2023 were buildings of any size and use, which were completed between 2018 and January 2023 and have their location in the city of Kassel or the districts of Kassel, Waldeck-Frankenberg, Schwalm-Eder, Werra-Meißner, Hersfeld-Rotenburg, Marburg-Biedenkopf, Lahn-Dill, Giessen, Wetterau, Vogelsberg and Fulda.

Background
The BDA Hessen would like to make good, exemplary architecture known to a broad public. In order to be able to select and award the appropriate buildings, the BDA groups announce four regional competitions in a five-year cycle: Joseph Maria Olbrich Plaque (BDA Group Darmstadt), Martin Elsaesser Plaque (BDA Group Frankfurt am Main), Simon Louis du Ry Plaque (BDA Groups Kassel and Central Hesse), Johann Wilhelm Lehr Plaque (BDA Group Wiesbaden). Independent, convened juries award up to ten prizes per region. The award-winning buildings receive the plaque of the respective region. The award is aimed at the building owner as well as architects. 

All projects awarded throughout Hesse in 2023 will be shown together in a traveling exhibition at the Kunsthalle Darmstadt in early 2024.
