6000 guests at the Campusfest

Around 6,000 visitors experienced the fourth Campus Festival of the University of Kassel today (June 6) - more than ever before. The university presented itself to the city and region as an attractive place to study, a top-class research institution and a place of cultural diversity. After the end of the official program, many guests ended the evening with a party on campus.

From 3 to 9 p.m., there was hands-on science, discourse and debate, guided tours, art and culture on the Holländischer Platz campus. The lecture by the keynote speaker, the ARD weather expert Sven Plöger, was followed by around 650 spectators in the packed lecture hall 1 alone and another 500 spectators in another lecture hall into which the lecture was broadcast. Plöger spoke both humorously and well-founded about weather extremes and climate change; afterwards, he discussed with transformation researcher Prof. Dr. Uwe Schneidewind the challenges for politics and society that arise from this.

The tours of the campus and the scientists' laboratories were again popular, as was the music program in front of the refectory. In the evening, despite some rain, a cheerful festival developed. With about 6000 visitors - even in the evening new guests kept coming - the campus festival set a record this year. At the same time the "Waschbär Open Air" of the AStA Kassel took place for the second time, which contributed to the exuberant atmosphere around the Campus Center.
