Award of the Stifterverband: University of Kassel participates in the "Future Lab

With its Application Center Plastics Processing UNIpace, the University of Kassel is participating in the "Future Lab Cooperation Governance" of the Heinz Nixdorf Foundation and the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft. The foundation and the Stifterverband are thus honoring this instrument of knowledge transfer at the university in northern Hesse and supporting the application center in its further development.

The University of Kassel is one of eight German universities to be accepted into the program; 34 universities applied. This includes financial support of 20,000 euros as well as an "outside view" of the application center's management processes and advice from experts. The program runs from the end of 2018 to the beginning of 2020.

The management of the UNIpace application center expects an external analysis to provide stimuli for the transfer of research results to industry and for a more effective external presentation. For the university, the program can provide important impulses for the design of possible further strategic partnerships.

In 2013, the University of Kassel, together with the company B. Braun Melsungen AG, established the Application Center Plastics Processing UNIpace. The aim is to link research in the field of plastics processing more closely with practical manufacturing. This includes, for example, the upscaling of laboratory tests and the optimization of existing manufacturing processes. The focus here is on silicone elastomers. The application center also cooperates with numerous other regional and international companies.
