Energiewende Nordhessen - Regional power supply plays an important role

As part of the C/sells project funded by the BMWi, the Department of Economics with a focus on decentralized energy management at the University of Kassel conducted a survey on the topic of regional power supply. In the period from October 03 to November 02, 2018, Kau-funger and Kassel citizens could participate in the survey. A total of 663 people were surveyed.

Initial results show that 41% of respondents use a green power tariff from 100% renewable energies. Green power is popular, especially when it is offered by regional suppliers, according to 40% of respondents. However, it also shows that so far only 42% of respondents have already actively switched their tariff. Detailed evaluations, in particular on the willingness to pay for specific features of an electricity tariff, will be published in the first quarter of the coming year.

As an incentive for taking part in the survey, a competition was also held in which respondents could win 50 euros with a bit of luck. In the event of a win, respondents could decide in advance whether they would like to donate part or all of the prize money to the Kaufungen Municipal Library or the Kassel Youth Library for the acquisition of borrowable information materials and tools on the subject of climate and energy. This resulted in donations of 365 euros for the Kaufungen Community Library and 1,125 euros for the Kassel Youth Library.

In addition to the completed street survey, there is still the possibility to participate in the survey online:
