Close cooperation with employers' association HESSENMETALL Nordhessen

The successful cooperation between the University of Kassel and the Association of Metal and Electrical Companies in North Hesse has been running for many years on a project basis, but usually only selectively. Through a cooperation agreement, both sides now want to strategically align the collaboration, thereby creating the basis for closer and long-term cooperation between the partners in research, recruiting and training for mutual benefit.

Carsten Rahier, Chairman of the Employers' Association HESSENMETALL Nordhessen.

Dr. Oliver Fromm, Chancellor of the University of Kassel, underlines the importance of the agreement: "There are a whole range of interesting potential cooperation partners in North Hesse, particularly in the fields of automotive engineering and mechanical engineering. In many cases, our researchers from the technical disciplines are already working closely with companies in the region. However, especially for cooperation with innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, it can be helpful to provide a framework with a cooperation agreement and to further promote exchange."

The departments Electrical Engineering/Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering are actively involved in the cooperation. In particular, the cooperation is intended to promote the systematic transfer of knowledge from the university to industry. At the same time, the member companies of HESSENMETALLoffer the technical departments of the university in particular the opportunity to receive impulses from practice for the processing of new research questions. HESSENMETALL sees itself here as a "gateway to medium-sized companies" in the Hessian metal and electrical industry.

Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. Carsten Rahier, MBA, chairman of the employers' association HESSENMETALL Nordhessen, sees great opportunities in the now contractually agreed cooperation: "Through this contract we create the basis to offer technology-driven companies of our association concrete contacts to science and research and for new transfer and cooperation opportunities with the University of Kassel. With the planned offer and event formats, we also want to lower the thresholds to research and development contracts in personal dialog and promote cooperation between research, science and industry."

The date for the launch event "Science Meets Industry" has already been set: on November 18, the heads of the relevant departments and company representatives of the metal and electrical companies in the association will introduce themselves to each other and get to know each other at Science Park Kassel.
