Kassel students successful at German University Championships

The German University Championships in Athletics (indoor) in Frankfurt were once again a success with about 300 students from all over Germany. As you know it from Frankfurt, the competition was very well organized and always on schedule. Dignified award ceremonies and great performances across all disciplines made the DHM worth seeing even for every non-athlete. Julia Nestle, otherwise FFH presenter, moderated the event with a lot of calmness and professional knowledge. No discipline came too short and great performances were accompanied by great applause from the spectators. With the support of the audience, the runners, jumpers or throwers were led to good attempts. Praise should be given once again to the dedicated helpers and judges, without whom such an event would not be possible.

Also this year, the University of Kassel provided several participants in different disciplines.

In the 60m sprint Clemens Grau and Steven Müller competed. Steven Müller was successful in the preliminary heat and qualified for the final heat. He finished with a very good second place.

In the long jump Clemens Grau competed again and finished in 7th place.

Merle Hinz and Carolin Klupsch competed in the women's long jump. With a distance of 5.44m Merle took 12th place and Carolin just missed the podium with a distance of 5.90m - 4th place was on the board for her in the end.

In the 60m hurdles, Carolin again just missed the podium and also went home with a 4th place in this discipline.

In the high jump, however, she took a great 2nd place, which she had to share with another athlete. Only the number of failed attempts decided the victory.

In the 60m sprint, Merle Hinz took 5th place, which unfortunately was not enough to qualify for the finals.
